Humans Of RESQ- Vitthal Totewad

by Team RESQ

Soft spoken, sincere, and dependable, Vitthal Totewad is an integral part of the rehabilitation team at the RESQ Wildlife TTC. Inherently an animal lover, Vitthal couldn’t have been happier that he gets to work with animals, wildlife especially. He clearly remembers the day in 2018 when he first visited RESQ as his cousins worked here and carrying back the dream to work at RESQ himself. The following year, his manifestations came true as there was an opening and Vitthal joined as an assistant to the vets, and since then he has never ever looked back.

Vitthal adds a lot of value to the rehab team as he is always updating his knowledge. His favorite part about his work is rehabilitation of orphans. Subsequently, his most memorable moment so far has been the day, two rusty spotted kittens that were hand raised by him, moved on to successfully fulfilling all their rehabilitation milestones and eventually went back to where they belonged- into the wild. He adds with a coy smile, “I don’t realize when the day begins and ends here because work just doesn’t feel like work here".

Apart from animals, there are two more things Vittal loves dearly- electronics and music. Before joining RESQ, for a living, he repaired electronics by the day and worked as a deejay by the night. Even today, when he isn’t working, Vitthal is either mixing songs on his deejay console or repairing some electronic device.
The one quote he truly believes in is “Whatever happens, happens for the best” and when asked what animal he would’ve liked to be born as, “a leopard, for how intelligent and independent it is" he says with a smile and a nod.
