FIAPO Bootcamp 2017

December 17, 2017
by Team RESQ

Federation of Indian Animals Protection Organisations (FIAPO) organised a 3 day Bootcamp in Pune this month. The camp was a track intensive event which focuses on creating a unified animal rights movement in the country. Enthusiastic people from all over the country, working towards animal welfare attended this camp to learn and understand various ways of maintaining a peaceful co-existence and reducing human-animal conflict.

Our Co-founder and President, Neha Panchamiya, conducted a session on the first day of the camp. She shared her knowledge about the ‘Best Practices in First Aid and Rescue’ and ‘How to Plan and Run a successful animal rescue program in your city’ based on her 10 years of experience in animal rescues. There were select participants from all over the country and it was an excellent group who asked tons of questions!

In order to gain practical knowledge about the same, the participants visited the RESQ Centre on the second day of the camp, where they first took a tour of the centre and were demonstrated different wound dressing techniques by the RESQ Centre Director, Fiyana Elavia. Each participant was given a brief about animal rescues, right from handling an injured animal to treating them.

A few participants then visited the ResQ Centre on the third day where they practised treatment and wound dressing on some of the admitted dogs at RESQ. They were supervised by our vets throughout and got a full hands-on experience with respect to medication and treatment.

Overall, the three-day course was a big success all because of the inquisitiveness and enthusiasm of all the members who participated in this wonderful initiative.
“Gaining knowledge is the first step to wisdom. Sharing it is the first step to humanity." Thank you FIAPO for giving us an opportunity in being a part of this boot camp.
