Veera is a cow who was rescued in the dead of the night when she snuck into a lane of residences and was only trying to find some grass to graze on. You see, Veera has a birth defect where a portion of her upper jaw juts to one side, giving her a very alarming experience. There were some people who had her chained to a temple and were using her appearance to beg for alms. But when she got away, her face scared several people and they were pelting her with stones. By the time out teams reached her, she was frantic and scared and not at all happy with being caught and transported.
Once she was safe at the RESQ centre, the vets determined that her condition did not prevent her from living a normal life. Her consumption of food and rumination was no different than any other cattle.
Veera has the typical indifferent temperament of her breed (Khillar) and is not overly affectionate towards anyone, person or animal. She is very content to be left to her own devices. She has a recurring issue of attracting ticks far too often and needs medicated baths more than the other cows and bulls.
