Sultan has finally made his way to RESQ Pune… He has multiple wounds and a very bad posture from being overworked in Ahmednagar (he was made to pull large carriages there). He was abandoned and we were alerted about him by PFA Delhi (who is handling the matter with owner) but when we saw his pictures, we just knew that we had to go get him out of there.
We took 4+ hours by truck to bring him into Pune… He’s a lovely camel, has a good temperament but we’re still getting to know all his moods, his likes and dislikes. We are using some positive reinforcement (treats like greens and carrots!) to get him to listen to us and cooperate for his wound dressings and treatment.
After making his way to Pune last year from Ahmednagar, Sultan has stayed with us as a resident camel and is doing way better than before!
In ahmednagar he was being used to pull large carrieges which took a toll on his body.. Here at RESQ, he is at ease, eating as much as he wants to, going on daily walks and breathing fresh air!
His ailments are improving, his fur is no more foul smelly, its soft and dense. He greets us fondly whenever we approach him and likes neck scratches.
He is not picky about his food but loves carrots over everything else!
His recovery would not be possible without your support. Because he is a resident at the RESQ Centre, we still require your contribution to bear his day to day expenses.
