Since 1:30 am last night, a man could hear the pitiful cries of a cat screaming for help. This morning, he found her impaled on the spoke of a fence, presumably from a fall off a tree. She was upside down, unable to move, and hopelessly helpless.
When our team caught wind of the situation via our webline, we rushed to the cat's aid immediately. She had been bleeding throughout the night, and was in unimaginable pain. The spoke had pierced through one side of her body, and out through the other. It was horrifying to think that she had remained like this for so long, through the dark hours of the night, frightened and so terribly alone.
Carefully, we cut through the metal and finally extracted the rod from her body. Throughout the harrowing process, this courageous cat was incredibly patient and quiet. It was as if she knew we were there to help; that she would soon be free. As we sawed through coarse metal, we prayed she would survive the journey to ResQ and the emergency surgery that would inevitably follow.
Too bad we didn't know what an absolute fighter Ray is.
Three hours of gruelling surgery later, she is now safe and sound, and is such a testament of hope that we simply couldn't resist naming her Ray! She is our little ray of hope, sunshine, and all that we stand for.
Although Ray is a determined little survivor, she needs all the help she can get in order to ensure a healthy recovery. Please help her receive the best care possible by sponsoring her treatment at ResQ. Every little bit counts!
