Of all the reasons to delay your commute to work, stopping to resscue a dog, is perhaps the most RESQ thing of all!
Gomez, an abandoned Labrador-mix boy, was walking along the road that led to the RESQ Centre. He caused quite the holdup of vehicles one morning, as every RESQ staff member who was on their way in to work spotted him stopped to see how they could help him. We offered him some dog food (which, of course, we all carry in our vehicles!), gently coaxed him out of his initial fear and brought him back to the centre.
Although he came to the RESQ Centre willingly enough, it was evident that Gomez had suffered a rough life before being found. He was neither welcoming nor friendly. His body was covered in nicks and scratches which were bleeding. His gait was lopsided. An X ray revealed that all the digits on his left front leg were crushed, no doubt due to a road accident.
We are working tirelessly to get Gomez to place his faith in humans again. He will need physical as well as emotional rehabilitation and we need your support to help him become the healthy, happy and confident dog that we know he can be!
