Blind faith and superstitions hurt more animals than you can imagine - just like Ajay...
A young calf was rescued from the highway yesterday. Someone had tied a "kaala dhaga" on his right hind leg, just above his hoof; possibly as a gesture to ward off bad luck or evil. Sadly, the thread itself cut into the calf's circulation and caused a deep wound which was infested in maggots. We brought this young boy to the RESQ Centre and we have named him Ajay.
The maggots have been removed from Ajay's wound but constant contact with hard surfaces tends to make the wound bleed repeatedly. His injury is kept well bandaged and his medication includes injections to stop the bleeding, alongside pain relief and antibiotics. We are trying to keep his movement as restricted as possible and are ensuring that he stays comfortable and doesn't get restless. This will ensure speedy healing of his wound.
Ajay is going to need your help to get better! Please sponsor his care and medical expenses by clicking on the Donate button below. And remember, do not tie threads for religious or identification or any other purposes around an animal's neck or limbs. It could be severely detrimental to them!
