Troye was found lying dejectedly on the road, bleeding profusely from his paw which was swollen to twice its size and oozing with maggots. Someone had tied a plastic bag around the injured paw, which is how our RESQ team came upon him. Troye was so badly kept that he seemed like a senior dog at first glance. It was only on closer examination that we realised he's actually quite a young dog! Troye has a badly damaged paw that needs to heal as well as recover completely from the hard times he's faced on the streets.
Fortunately, he still has a typical Great Dane appetite, which is very hopeful for all of us here at RESQ. This gentle giant seemed completely apathetic when he was found by our team, but we know that all his hope isn't extinguished yet. He took a moment to just be a dog and put his head outside the RESQ ambulance vehicle's window and feel the wind in his face... he is now at the RESQ Centre, where he is going to need large amounts of nutritious food to reach and stay his healthiest best, along with regular wound dressings, antibiotics and painkillers -- and of course, LOTS of love!
