Pune District, the landscape we predominantly work in has changed greatly over the last decade. By 2018, the growth in urban development, shifts in agricultural patterns and climatic changes led to an increasing number of wildlife coming into conflict. Increasingly, these animals were getting reported to the helplines of our organisation.Towards the end of 2018, we dedicated a section of our land and resources for a Wildlife Unit after which the Maharashtra Forest Department approved RESQ as a Wildlife Treatment Transit Centre.
RESQ's intervention with wildlife revolves around providing veterinary care, surgery and post-operative rehabilitation, raising and rewilding abandoned orphans, rescuing wildlife from illegal captivity, technical animal rescue, human-animal conflict mitigation, education and awareness. Our team has been rescuing, treating, rehabilitating and releasing wildlife such as birds, monkeys, elephants, leopards, hyenas, jackal, turtles, civet cats, and snakes, among others.
Rehabilitation, medical care for wildlife requires special resources and set ups to ensure they have the right environment to recuperate in. We also have a dedicated team of rehabilitators to ensure they are receiving the best possible care in the finite resources we currently have. Your contribution will allow us to rescue and rehabilitate more wildlife that needs aid and allow us to do better...
