Rani
Share and spread the word:
Rani, a beautiful and calm horse was brought to the RESQCT centre for what at first glance appeared to be a profusely bleeding broken hoof. Closer examination of the wound confirmed that her hoof was infested with maggots and on the verge of becoming septic.
We stopped the bleeding and immediately started her on antibiotics, nerve tonics and pain killers. She was also given intravenous fluids to help her cope with the large amounts of blood she had already lost before we reached her.
It’s been little over a month now and Rani is doing well!
Her infected hoof has fallen off and even though a new hoof will grow back, it will take about a YEAR to do so. Rani will need a PROSTHETIC HOOF CAP to protect the wound from further infection thus allowing the new and healthy hoof to grow back.
Rs 12,000 = Cost for one month of food, medicines, daily dressings, nerve tonics and supplements for the next year.
Rs 16,000 = Prosthetic Hoof cap.
