PUBBY, THE GIRL WHO CHEATED DEATH -- TWICE!
Pubby came to us one year ago. She was the victim of a careless hit-and-run, and was left to die on the streets. Thankfully, she was reported to ResQ, and we rushed her to our Centre, where x-rays revealed that her tibia was broken. One orthopaedic surgery later, Pubby had healed well, and was released back to her area, where a kind guardian fed and watched over her.
One year down the line, Pubby is back to the ResQ Centre, the victim of a SECOND hit-and-run. This time, her femur has broken, resulting in excruciating pain. We often talk about how incredibly spirited our ResQ animals are, but in Pubby's case, we can't even begin to wrap our heads around her sheer tenacity and power of will. While the agony and trauma of having had to survive TWO horrific accidents can never be measured in words, what we can do now is work towards giving Pubby the BEST treatment and quality of life possible. She has just undergone her second orthopaedic surgery, and has been fighting her way -- slow but steady -- up the steep road to recovery.
Scars from her first surgery sit right below the fresh suture line of her second surgery, but Pubby doesn't seem to take notice -- in fact, she seems more concerned with wagging her tail and scoring chin rubs! With a dog so determined to live life to the fullest, we refuse to give up on her, and are now turning to you for help. While we cannot control the behaviour of rash drivers on the streets of our city, what we can do is help raise awareness about it, and treat Pubby to the very best of our abilities.
