Rescue

What kind of animals do we rescue

Dogs and cats come to us for many reasons and from all over the city of Pune. Sometimes they are injured by vehicles, sometimes they have infectious diseases, sometimes they are abandoned and sometimes they are victims of human inflicted cruelty.

We rescue only injured and sick ‘stray’ dogs and cats. We have helped out donkeys, cows, pigs and goats in the past, however, we are only equipped with infrastructure and expertise to help dogs and cats. All these animals are given a safe refuge – treatment, food and most importantly, love. They are nurtured back to health, vaccinated and released back in their area unless re-homed.

Where is the treatment done

Several animals receive on-site treatment by our volunteers and staff who attend to them in our mobile rescue van. The critical ones are taken into our kennels. All animals receive the very best care during their stay at our kennels. They are treated by qualified veterinary doctors and looked after by our dedicated volunteers and staff.

  • If the animal can be treated on-site, we prefer to do so, as putting an animal into a kennel only adds to its stress of already being injured or sick.
  • If the animal is very critical, and requires kennel-rest as an essential part of its recovery, we will admit the dog/cat into our kennels, provided we have space. We can comfortably admit only 7 animals at any given time in our kennels.
  • If the animal cannot be admitted into the kennel because the kennel might be full or it is an infectious disease (treatable) which may spread to other dogs but not humans, these dogs are sometimes fostered by our volunteers and well-wishers, if they agree at that time.

Nothing.

What do we expect from you

Only two things:

Firstly, we just want you to call us when you see a genuinely hurt or sick animal.

Secondly, please wait till we get there. We expect you to show us the animal. In the past, we have responded to callers who tell us where they spotted the dog, however, 99% times we do not end up finding the animal when we reach there. We try to respond as quickly as possible, and take at the latest 30-45 mins to reach there. We know you might be in a hurry, but your 30 minutes could help save a life. Its worth it.

Hi! I would like to know the contact number as the one that is given on the ‘contact’ page, is not reachable…. I would also like to know how can I be helpful to your organisation.

    Hi Rucha

The contact number is the same on the website and it is indeed the help line number. We did have a problem for some reason on the 1st of this month and we do apologize for it not being reachable. We do have alternate numbers and you can always contact us by email when something like this happens, cause someone is always there to check emails.

    Regards
