Adopt

Adopt a STRAY………..they’re a BREED APART!

The program was formulated on the philosophy that ‘one dog homed is one off the streets’. We in India have been so busy looking at imported breeds, that in the bargain we have completely sidelined breeds that have been an inherent part of our country. So many dogs find their lineage running into our history, yet very few know what they are called. Many now live by the name “stray” when actually they are descendants from an illustrious line of hounds that helped kings hunt, soldiers fight, farmers protect and tribes herd.

The Great Indian Dog: Few others are as sturdy, as intelligent and as loyal. We have been blinded by our love for all things novel and have forgotten about these dogs. Now all they are known as are “mongrels”, “pariahs”, and “street dogs”.

In our bid to resurrect the popularity of the Great Indian Dog, we are proactively encouraging the adoption of young puppies, that are born around your corner store, that see the hardships of life from day one, that know the value of every meal, and will cherish the warmth of every smile they receive. They too need a chance on life, and we feel that it’s not what’s on the outside, but on the inside that truly matters.

If you have a Pup/Kitten which you want to put up for Adoption:

  • E-mail us pictures of the pup/kitten
  • Please try and provide details about its gender, approximate age, colour and temperament e.g. Male, 2 months, Brown, Curious but friendly
  • Please send your full name and contact details, so if we find a home, we can contact you immediately
  • We will try our best to lookout for a good family/ farmhouse/ home for the pup or kitten however please understand that all pups may or may not get adopted; finding good homes is a difficult process – sometimes it can take 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months; we have a adoption protocol wherein prospective families/ individuals are interviewed, made to sign an undertaking and surprise checks will be conducted on the pups/ dogs after adoption.
If you would like to Adopt a Pup/Kitten

  • Check out the Pups for Adoption/ Kittens in Adoption Section on our website
  • Please mail us your contact details at resqct@gmail.com
  • We will either send you a form to fill and send back or contact you about the pup/kitten that you have inquired about. You will be required to come to the RESQ office for a interview, after which you may adopt the pup/kitten if deemed suitable by our Adoption In-charge.

    Hello Vishal,
Its good you are considering adopting a dog.
However I do urge you to adopt a stray or mixed breed when there are so many helpless (but healthy) animals on the street.
Also we do get calls pretty regularly saying that a dog (breeds too) has been abandoned. So leave your number with us and when this happens we will inform you.

    Hi Dushyant,

Glad you would like to adopt a pup. There are quite a few pups of that age available. If it is a puppy you are getting and it is about 2 months old you will need to do the potty training and basic other things to get the puppy use to the home environment.

Also getting a pup is a huge responsibility so may I ask you why it is an urgent need?

Please contact us at resqct@gmail.com to know more about pups available for adoption.

    Regards

    Ayesha

    Hi,
Im looking for a loving and caring family who could adopt my 1yr old male pet cat urgently. I had two male cats who started fighting recently, before it can turn fatal, Im intending to give one for adoption. He has been neutered 2 weeks back. Majorly has only dry Catfood and water, no milk. Interested ones are please requested to contact me immediately on +919850364171. It is too hard for me and my family, as we cannot leave him on the street, where is survival chances are negligible. Looking forward to you help and support,
