The Staveley Road Re-Homing Project
Monday, April 25th, 2011On 26 March 2011, Dr. Zareen Patel passed away leaving behind 135 dogs, most of them stray, some pure-bred at her ancestral home on Stavley Rd, in Camp, Pune. Dr. Patel had assigned 4 care-takers to look after the animals. However her untimely death left no more funds to look after the animals.
ResQ Charitable Trust has been entrusted with the task of looking after and re-homing the animals.
Currently ResQ is faced with 4 urgent challenges:
1. Taking care of the dogs and their living spaces: we need donations in the form of food, funds, medicines and supplies to help us look after the dogs
2. Sterilizing 80-90 dogs: out of 135 about 80-90 dogs need to be sterilized so to stop further breeding and costs about Rs. 1000/- per dog.
3. Finding volunteers with a veterinary or medical background: since some of the dogs are old, sick or hurt; they need constant medical care. ResQ is looking for volunteers with veterinary or medical backgrounds. We’d like people to come in for at least 2 hours every day for a minimum of a month at a time.
4. Finding permanent homes for the dogs: we need you, your friends and family to come forward and give some of these beautiful animals a place in your homes and lives. Please spread the word.
