The New Website

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I hope everyone enjoys the new look of the website. It becomes very difficult in the craziness at ResQ to come up with a newsletter and send out mailers all the time. This site was made so that it functions like a blog and newsletter so that everyone can be updated with what is happening at ResQ every day. If you’ve worked/volunteered with ResQ, you know that every day is different than the other and the madness never stops. Dogs and cats tend to do that to us :)

There are hundreds of pictures of Rescues in the last 3 and half years that I’d like to share but it seems like a mammoth task right to upload them all right now…so I’m going to start afresh and upload the ones the rescues and adoptions we do …..starting Today!

Every single person associated with ResQ is welcome to write and mail us your experiences, views and thoughts at resqct@gmail.com and I will try and put up every post so that everyone gets to read it.

Looking forward to more interaction, more good work and saving more lives.

Dr. Karlette Anne Fernandes

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

She’s all chirpy and bright, raring to go at every emergency call that comes, staying at ResQ till midnight working hard. Sometimes she gets moody and everyone at ResQ knows she’s having a bad day.

Let’s give it to Dr. Karlette for being one of best vets associated with ResQ so far. She’s brought in standards and quality to the work we do. She’s set systems that we will follow even after she is gone. She’s trained some volunteers who will remember her forever…and mostly importantly – touched the lives of hundreds of animals while she was at ResQ.

We all at ResQ are thankful to her for giving so much and wish her all the best in New Zealand. You will be missed.

And secretly we hope that you miss us too, and come back.

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

RESQ runs an Adoption Campaign every weekend at E-Square Multiplex, University Road. We often get some of the pups who our volunteers are fostering there as well. If you are interested in volunteering for the campaign or actually adopting a pup…visit us there!

We also sell some of ResQ merchandise there…pens, badges, and diaries!

One animal homed, is one animal off the streets!

Volunteer Meetings

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

We have volunteer meetings every 1st Friday or Sunday of the month. Check the ‘upcoming events’ category to keep yourself updated with the next meeting date.

The purpose of this meeting:

a) For existing volunteers: To make sure that the volunteer network is in touch with each other, with the organisation and with all events. Through this meeting we encourage volunteers to discuss rescue work, problems faced in the past month, find solutions, and also share any new ideas and concepts that would benefit the organisation. Note: Existing Volunteers, you may also claim your re-imbursements for any expenses incurred on behalf of the organisation at these meetings.

b) As an induction program for all new volunteers that sign up:
You will be introduced to the working group and given a brief about the different areas of work in RESQ. The meeting will also be an opportunity for new volunteers to get to know other volunteers in their area as well as get to meet volunteers working in different areas of RESQ, so that you can join groups according to your liking/ preference.

Sia

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Ipsita is currently fostering Sia. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting Sia. Ipsita has written a few lines about Sia….

“Sia is a lovable Indian Roadie female puppy about 3 months old. She is happy and healthy now, cute and very naughty. She loves to eat Little Hearts and Parle-G biscuits, loves her milk and chapatis, chicken and rice. She loves to sleep on her mat with a little teddy bear and is toilet trained to use the news paper! If u catch her being naughty she gives u this angelic look with her eyes like she’s innocent! She makes ur heart melt and you just want to give her a big hug…so if you want Sia to complete your family then u can adopt her from ResQ.”

Kuki

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Priti is relocating…and is looking for a home for Kuki. We asked her to write a bit about Kuki and send to us. You can contact Priti directly if you interested in adopting Kuki, as she is an owned dog.

“Here’s a little about my baby girl…..

Kuki was found as a tiny pup, starved, shivering and drenched in the rain , back in Aug 09. I took her in and she has been with me ever since. Kuki is a beige / cream coloured, female Indian dog, extremely docile and prefers staying indoors. Nevertheless, she has been potty trained and prefers to use a newspaper!  She is very playful and loves having someone around her while she chews on her doggy bone or simply watches tv. At the same time, she can be quite the guard dog when she senses something aint right.

A funny thing about her is that she has an extra toe on her hind paw! Reminds me of Hrithik Roshan at times :-)   She also has the most gorgeous floppy ears that make her look adorable when she tilts her head and poses for me!

She is quite possessive about her toys and picks them up after she has finished playing and keeps them on her bed! I’m sure a few human kids can learn from her ! At times, she suffers from separation anxiety, probably cos of her baby days. She is happy and serene when there is someone in the house and yet doesn’t like to interfere. She grew up with my cats till she out-grew them in size and I had to separate them…

Kuki has had her 1st heat – I will be more than happy to get her neutered before I leave. Dint want her to go thru the operation in this cruel heat.

Please please please help me find a good home for her…..

You can call me on 9970182707 / 9822194224.

Woof regards,

Priti

Brownie

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

She is very friendly, always happy to meet everyone and is one of the most loving dogs you will come across. To the extent that she will push away any other puppy you pay more attention to than her. She is looking for a home where she will be one of the most loved.

Fattu is up for Adoption!

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Fatu was so named because he was initially really scared of everyone around. But give him enough time and you will see his frisky and jumpy side which is in total contrast to his innocent eyes and soft pink nose. However the combination does make him absolutely adorable!
